Cellullar Biology
A cell is the smallest functional unit of an organism. Cells are considered the basic unit of life because every living things has cells , your body contains mostly cells.
How big are objects in the biological world ?
Objects can go from 40x to 100x to 400x as large as you zoom in to the microscope.
Human hair - 200 micrometers
Dust mite - 200 micrometers
Ragweed pollen - 20 micrometers
Lymphocyte -20 micrometers
Redblood cells - 20 micrometers
Bakers yeast - 20 micrometers
E. coli - 2 micrometers
Staphylococcus - 2 micrometers
Eboola virus - 200 nanometers

Levels of organization
Atom - The smallest unit of an element
Molecules -2 or more atoms of the same or different elements join to & from molecules
Cell - the cell is the smallest unit that can live and reproduce on its own
Tissue - A tissue consists of certain types and pourportions of cells interacting the same
Organ - consists of 2 or more tissues interacting in the same task.
Organ system -they interact physically , chemically or both in a organ system.
Multicelled Organism -...red sea parrot fish are organized as tissue organs
Population -a group of multicelled or single celled individuals of the same species
Community - a population of the same specied
Ecosystem - a community that is interacting with its physical enviorment .
Biosphere -emcompasses all regions of earts waters crust & atmospheres .

Types of cells
Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells are very similar. Prokaryotic are the primitive cells , there name means without nucleus. Eukaryotic are the more complex cells , they the the nucleus and the membrane. They both have the same kinds of functions. Both are enclosed with plasma membranes. There are loaded with small structures called ribosomes. All prokaryotic cells have cell walls , not many eukaryotic cells have cell walls.
Vizualizing cells
We are using a compound microscope to visualize cells using cheek and leaf cells. -
